The G o s p e l of Jesus Christ is the power of God for salvation for everyone who believes (Romans 1:16). Therefore, proclaiming the gospel of grace and teaching the doctrines of grace in every possible context the Lord opens up to us will always be our number one priority. The Gospel is our life and will be the lifeblood of a church planting movement in Lima.
The K i n g d o m of God is his rule and reign, in human hearts and through his people, the Church, to be extended over all of life and to the ends of the earth (Matthew 4:17; 28:18-20; Acts 28:30-31).
The l o c a l c h u r c h is God's appointed means for the preaching of the gospel and the extension of his Kingdom over all the earth (Matthew 16:18).
E v a n g e l i s m , c h u r c h p l a n t i n g & m i s s i o n s are to be at the heart of every healthy local church (Matthew 28:18-20; Acts 14:23).
To fulfill the Great Commission, the m u l t i p l i c a t i o n of new converts and those trained to win new converts must be a priority. The concept of multiplication or reproduction should be an integral part of all leadership training and disciple-making (2 Timothy 2:2).
M e n t o r i n g is critical to the disciple-making and leadership training process.
The gospel of the Kingdom is to be proclaimed both in words and in deeds, after the pattern of Jesus Christ's ministry (Mark 3:13-19; Matthew 4:23-25).
Therefore ministries of j u s t i c e & m e r c y are likewise to be at the heart of every healthy local church (Micah 6:8).
P r a y e r is God's appointed means for moving his Kingdom forward. We must engage in it constantly and promote prayer in all ministry with which we are involved (Matthew 6:9-13; Luke 11:9-13).
We're committed to ministry in team, understanding t e a m m i n i s t r y to be the Biblical approach to all ministry. As missionaries our primary role is that of a f a c i l i t a t o r. We participate in ministry as player-coaches, with our chief objective being to lead those we work with into a better understanding of the gospel of grace and to greater skill and effectiveness in ministry. We are always along side of others as they do the ministry, and by our presence we help them do it more effectively and more capably. Our goal is that after we leave, they are better able to serve the Lord within their ministry area because of the time they spent with us (Ephesians 4:11-12).
P a r t n e r s h i p , which is a form of team ministry encompassing wider areas relationships within the Body of Christ, will be employed in one form or another in all of our key result areas: including diaconal projects, church planting projects and leadership training (2 Corinthians 1:11; Philippians 4:10, 18-19).
U n i t y . John 17 mandates that we have a cooperative and loving attitude towards believers from other denominations. Some portion of our time should be spent cultivating healthy cross-denominational relationships. We will seek to be winsome in sharing the Reformed faith across denominational lines, believing that the doctrines of grace will enrich all our brothers and sisters here in Lima, inside and outside the Presbyterian context. We will expect a church planting movement to be by nature multi-denominational.
S u s t a i n a b i l i t y is an integral criterion for all projects. Great care will be taken assessing financial relationships in ministry so that sustainability at the local level is the end result of all financial investment (Galatians 6:2-5).
